Originally from Brisbane (Meanjin), Benjamin Alldridge has spent nearly a decade living in Tasmania, where he now resides in the northern region near the kanamaluka/River Tamar. His work gained significant recognition when he was named the 2024 Australian Geographic Landscape Photographer of the Year, and his images have been featured in major global publications such as National Geographic and Forbes.
With a background as a marine biologist, Ben’s photography is driven by a deep curiosity for the natural world. He focuses on capturing unseen natural processes in imaginative ways, blending art with science. His goal is to explore complex environmental topics and inspire a sense of wonder, helping viewers understand the modern world’s impact on the planet.
This dedication has taken him to the edge of Antarctica in pursuit of the aurora, a subject to which he has dedicated terabytes of images. The southern lights were what initially brought Ben to Tasmania, creating a powerful and unbreakable link between the artist and the landscape.
